I've got a bit of a nasty problem during an upgrade.

System is running on enterprise linux 6 and with a Oracle DB 11.2.0.3

According to MOPZ:

The upgrade didn't get any farther than the calculation of the queue and then it stopped mentioning that it was missing files for RTLPOSDM to be able to calculate the queue.

Since BI_CONT was on a reasonably old version (and still with the RTLPOSDM packages included in BI_CONT) I decided to upgrade to BI_CONT 707 and RTLPOSDM 100_700. AFfer installing this, this is now the source release.

Has anyone else come across this problem or any experience in upgrading from NW 7.0 EHP1 to NW 7.4? I've done an upgrade from a BW 7 Ehp1 to BW 7.3 Ehp1 in the past .But there was no RTLPOSDM component (logically since it was not a retail customer)

I am working with a NW7.4 Portal Upgrade and got stuck during the configuration step on phase BUILD_COMPONENT_LIST_FOR_UPGRADE (picture 1).

Normally I am stuck with some custom components, unable to proceed with the remove option. When I try to remove those components and continue with the deployment, it is again coming back to same stage with Rebuild the component list.

Need help here to proceed with removing these components for the upgrade, as we are planning to migrate these custom developed components post upgrade.

If there is no option for removing these objects and proceed for upgrade, then what should be ideal way to proceed for the upgrade.

Dear All,

I have a HTML5 Application which hosted on SAP Enterprise Portal. My Application run only in the IE Standard mode, but Enterprise mode.

If the Enterprise mode is enabled, there was some rendering issue, where all the UI's are displayed in the left side

When ever i click my application url, Enterprise mode is automatically Enabled. i had to disable every time when i access my application.

I have two question.

1. Mostly Web Application must run on both the modes . why the application run only on Standard mode but enterprise mode?

     When i checked about the functionality of Enterprise mode, i came to know that if the application does not work on Standard mode, enabling      Enterprise mode make it work . if the application still not work, maintaining the application url in the compatablity view settings make it work.

2. I have found a way to disable the Enterprise mode from Group policy editor(gpedit.msc) and regedit.

     Is there any way we can disable permanently from Browser setting? not to involve group policy editor and register edit

Steps :
1.Install SQL Server 2005 on the target system.
2.Install BW3.5 .
3.Restore Production Copy
4.Upgrade SQL Server 2005 32 bit to 2012 64 bit.
5.Upgrade BW to 7.x

(Collation: is not SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2)

I’m not sure that it’s possible to Upgrade SQL Server 2005 32 bit to 2012 64 bit directly.
Do you have any idea?

The phase XPRAS_AIMMRG in Execution section of the tool is running for a very long time.

we are performin an upgrade to EHP7. We have 2 separate systems ERP 6.0 EHP 3 and portal 7.0 and the upgrade is going to achieves the EHP 7 on ERP and the NW 7.4 on portal.

Right now, we are facing an issue on the portal upgrade. On the configuration phase (on the SUM tool), and on the "Build list for the upgrade" step. The system shows an error with the patch SAP_ESS 633 (is the one that we are going to install with the upgrade), the error is the following one:

Searching some information on the Internet, we have found that the error is caused by a dependency with a modification implemented on the previous package (the current on the system) SAP_ESS 600, through NWDI.

We have tried to import the SAP_ESS 633 (the newest one) on a new track on NWDI to the consolidation tab and export the SCA file. After that, we have included the new SCA file generated on NWDI in our upgrade folder and re-launch the upgrade process, but we still in the same error. After that, we have realised that our development system does not have the SAP_ESS 600 installed, but this package is already installed on quality and production environments.

We are wondering if we are doing well, i mean, if the procedure that we follow to re-generate the SAP_ESS 633 is the correct one? In that case, how can we re-generate the package SAP_ESS 633 in development environment if this system does not have the previous package installed?

We are performing EP support pack stack upgrade from 7.31 SP01 to 7.31 SP16. We are facing the below error in Specify OS User Credentials step

The update tool was unable to connect to the SAPControl web service on any of the detected instance numbers. Check that the SAP Start Services are running for all instances in the cluster. See SAP Note 1401712 for further information. The update tool is unable to detect the instances information for instance number: 0 on host: null via the SAPCONTROL web service API. Either the SAP Start Service associated with this instance is not running or a required functionality is not supported by the current version of the Kernel. See SAP Note 1401712 for further information. But runJmt.log is empty. Based on other forums, i also checked the file cluster_id_switch.properties under jmt and it looks good in terms of src and tgt.

Also one thing we noticed is in between at a particular phase (Redeploy Filesystem) it is putting back only server0 under cluster dir, none of the other things like dispatcher, bootstrap dirs as well as instance.properties are coming back .. Any idea why ? If we copy those from the backup dir still it is giving error at jmt level.

we are upgrading our portal system from 7.0 to 7.3EHP1 in oracle with HP-UX OS. We have started the upgrade and currently is in deploy shadow instance step of per-processing phase.we are getting error in deploy shadow instance step as below.

We have observed that, shadow instance service only is not running. we tried to start the shadow instance services manually, same failing again .Only shadow central instance services(SCS) came up and running .Still shadow service is not coming up.

We have recently upgraded our EP portal from 7.01 to 7.4, and also we

have BI Portal which is running on 7.3.

Previously BI Portal act as Producer and EP Portal as a Consumer, now

while reconfiguring Federated portal I am getting below error.

“If the remote system is the same SAP NetWeaver release as your system,

then a two-way registration is performed.

If the remote system is a lower SAP NetWeaver release, then a one-way

registration of your system as a consumer of the remote system

(producer) is performed

Could not retrieve registration information from remote system; check

that the remote system is running and can be accessed.Unexpected error

occurred. Check your configuration settings and network connection, and

then try again.

If I try to register same with EP portal it successful registered, but

it won’t show previously assigned role of BI portal users, if I

manually assign than it shows but after deregister and reconfigure it

again it delete producer Portal role in consumer Portal users, we have to re assign role every time

after system refresh which is not possible for more than 2000 users.

Kindly advice how to resolve this.

We are upgrading NetWeaver Portal from 7.0 to 7.4. Currently we have Composite Applications (WD Java on top of MDM) developed and deployed in Cmposite Environment(CE). Those CE applications are federated with portal and are not part of current migration. We are planning to federate those applications to upgraded version of portal. My question is this:

"How would go for CE federated? Any document for the same would be great. If not, kindly suggest me the way forward to assess the impact of CE federated into NetWeaver portal 7.4?"

Please let me know if you guys need more input.

   we need to do customisation on the masthead application available in portal.  Now as   EP 7.3 no longer supports PAR files we were looking to download an EAR file of the  masthead application . We found the SAP  provded masthead appliction  in th efollowing location . 

Content Administartion --> Portal Content Management --> Portal Content (Tab) > Portal Applications> com.sap.portal.navigation.afp.masthead 

But henceforth we are unable to obtain  the EAR format from this applicaton . Some suggestion will be appreciated .

In NWA, I have me~ear-Failed to start (Operation Management-Systems-Start and Stops-Java EE Applications) and in status details: cannot create DataSource "wipPool"

In COnfiguratio Management>Infrastructure>Application Resourse>> the odsDiagPool, reportPool, odsPool and wipPool had the old host and I edit it with the new host, but the status of them is still not available.

Is there another place I have to change the host?

2. SAP MSS 600

When I try to create the MOPZ in Solution manager we are getting the below error

I am starting this post to get benefit on the Netweaver upgrades discussion. In our organization, we are working on Proof of concept for Netweaver portal upgrade to 740 release.

I am working on building a POC system with our Quality portal  java system copy and then upgrading it to latest NW 740 SP11 release.

Current environment = SAP EHP 3 for SAP Netweaver 7.0 (NW 7.02, SP15)

Could someone help me here with the upgrade documentation and steps to be considered before going into the upgrade?

I am exploring on the preparation work, but it will be helpful if someone who has upgraded their portal to 7.4 can share their experience and tips during the upgrade?

Also would like to know if there will be any dependency on migrating the ESS, MSS components which off 600 release to NW 7.4 portal environment?

Do we need to consider any prerequisite for these components during this upgrade?

Really appreciate sharing your experience and knowledge on this.

Hi all,

I had a portal 7.0 and a SAP SRM 7.02 EHP2.

We were installed a new portal 7.4 and we have transported all content of our portal 7.0 to the portal 7.4.

In the portal we are calling a several webdynpro Abap (SRM 7.02) the wendynpro abap work correctly but the problem is with the visualization. For example with the style(color and shape) of tabs.

I am doing EP SP13 upgrade(Netweaver 7.4). But, it got stuck in configuration phase. Also, server0 is also stopped for EP.

Now, I am not able to start server0. There is no specific error found in work dir.

Tried to restart it manually, It tried to restart 4 times then failed. ICM is up and running.
